A peel-open sterilisable pouch (1) comprises a front panel (2) and an associated rear panel (3) joined together by an outer peelable seal (4) to define a pocket between the panels (2, 3). A centrally located opening (7) is provided in the front panel (2) and a gas permeable membrane patch (8) is mounted across the opening (7) on a rear face of the front panel (2) and is secured to the front panel (2) by an annular patch seal (10). An outer periphery of the gas permeable membrane patch (8) is located inboard of the outer peelable seal (4) joining the panels (2, 3). The gas permeable membrane allows sterilisation of the pouch contents (15) after it has been placed in the pouch. |
