摘要 Disclosed is a method for producing spinel type lithium manganate that is used for a positive electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery. The method for producing spinel type lithium manganate comprises (a) a starting material preparation step in which a starting material that is composed of a compound containing lithium, manganese and bismuth is prepared, and (b) a firing step in which the starting material prepared in the starting material preparation step is fired at a temperature from 830°C to 1000°C. In the starting material preparation step, the starting material is prepared so that the amount of bismuth remained in spinel type lithium manganate that is obtained by the firing step is 0.01 mol% or less relative to the manganese therein. By this method, lithium manganate having large grain sizes and high characteristics can be produced on an industrial scale.
