A method of creating and maintaining a federated database over time comprising multilayered partitioned data-indexes by indicating at least one of a plurality of processing devices in at least one of multiple highest index layers of the multilayered partitioned data-indexes as a starting point, and searching along a path that begins at the starting point and logically descends via lower layers of the indexes towards the data partitions. The searching and indexing are carried out independently and in a parallel manner and the indicating of the at least one or more starting points is index such that the searching yields fast scalable retrieving of data and extreme throughput performance. |
