A device and method for sending channel quality information are provided by the present invention, so that the feedback overhead is reduced when a terminal feeds the quality information back to a base station, and the feedback precision is improved. Wherein the method includes: the direct channel information obtained by a mobile terminal is divided into the slowly varying coarse-grained channel information and the quickly varying fine-grained channel information; the feedback grain size of the coarse-grained channel information indicates a full-bandwidth and sub-bands, the feedback period of the sub-band is a multiple of a sub-frame's; the feedback grain size of the fine-grained channel information indicates sub-bands or a full-bandwidth, the feedback period is a multiple of a sub-frame's. The feedback information of the present invention can trace the variety of the channel better, and facilitate reducing the feedback overhead.
