A thermally stable polycrystalline (TSP) construction 20 includes a body 22 having a polycrystalline ultra-hard material and either a plurality of empty voids or a reaction product or a combination thereof. The body is substantially free of a catalyst material. The construction further includes a backside support member 24 attached to the body by a first braze material and a sidewall support member 26 attached to the body and the backside support member by a second braze material. The sidewall support member extends circumferentially around a portion of the polycrystalline body. This provides additional lateral support to the body.
