METHOD FOR PREOPERATIVE PREPARATION OF PATIENTS WITH CAROTID CHEMODECTOMA

A method for preoperative preparation of the patients with carotid chemodectoma comprises the assessment of the functional state and the training of the collateral cerebral blood circulation and eye according to Matas technique. Extracranial and transcranial Dopplerography is made. The blood flow in extracranial divisions of the carotid arteries as well as vertebral arteries is estimated. The compression tests are performed for assessing the vascular sources of collateral compensation of cerebral and orbital blood circulation in Wilis circle and eye anastomosis. The functional competence of these natural anastomoses is assessed.
