摘要 <p>PURPOSE: A modular robot and a control method thereof are provided to enable robots to be formed in a variety of shapes since the robots automatically recognize, connect and separate combining planes through wireless transmission. CONSTITUTION: A modular robot comprises a rectangular body(100), an L-shaped rotating member(200), a rotating mechanism unit, a moving mechanism unit, a docking and locking mechanism unit, a control unit and a battery. The rotating member forms two sides, which are connected to the rest two sides of the body. The rotating mechanism unit rotates the rotating member toward the upper part of the body. The moving mechanism unit moves along a straight/curve line or rotates it. When robots are combined with each other, the docking and locking mechanism unit inserts the protruded portion of other robot into the connecting groove(110) of the body and combines the robots. The control unit controls the movement, the combination and the separation of the robot using each unit. Power is supplied to the battery.</p>
