PURPOSE: A display device, capable of providing information to a user while booting, and a method for driving the same are provided to supply many information to a user through a screen or a speaker while a display device is booted. CONSTITUTION: A processor(140) changes previously stored boot picture data into other boot screen data received form an interface unit. The processor controls a display unit(110) to output the boot screen data while booting according to a boot code. The boot code includes a command fro outputting the boot screen data. The display unit outputs the boot screen data by controlling the processor.
