PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire building drum capable of suppressing wear between side end surfaces of segments. SOLUTION: The tire building drum includes first and second segments 2A and 2B arranged alternately in a circumferential direction and moved between a contracted diameter state and an expanded diameter state by a contraction and expansion means 3. The contraction and expansion means includes a conical slide body 12 guided movably in a shaft core direction and having a guide surface 20 at the inner end in the shaft core direction, and first and second moving pieces 15A and 15B guided inward/outward movably in a radial direction and having the first and second segments 2A and 2B each attached at the outer end in the radial direction. The guide surface 20 comprises a first tilting surface 20A engaged with the first moving piece 15A and a second tilting surface 20B having a different slope from that of the first tilting surface and engaged with the second moving piece 15B. The guide surface makes the first segment 2A arrive at an expansion position earlier than the second segment 2B in the case of the expansion of a diameter, and makes the first segment 2A start to move from the expansion position inward in the radial direction later than the second segment 2B in the case of the contraction of the diameter.
