PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten an inspection time of a cylinder liner by inspecting the inner diameter and surface state of a cylinder without removing a cylinder cover of the cylinder of a piston reciprocating combustion engine. SOLUTION: There are provided a method for inspecting a sliding surface 35 of the cylinder liner 25 of the combustion engine and an inspection device, and the inspection device has an inspection tool, a control device and a connection means 60 for power supply and the transmission of measuring data and control signals. The inspection tool has a bearing rail 70, and a rotary table 80 and tools 90, 96 for measuring the inner diameter and sliding surface 35 of the cylinder liner 25 and for the visual inspection of the surface state are mounted to the bearing rail 70. The inspection tool has a size that can be introduced into the cylinder liner 25 through an aperture in the cylinder liner 25 to be inspected. The invention is particularly suitable for the inspection of the cylinder liner 25 of the piston reciprocating combustion engine. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
