PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply producing an ionic liquid in a high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing the ionic liquid comprising an anionic site and a cationic site, includes adsorbing and supporting a group constituting the anionic site of an ionic liquid on an OH-type anion exchange resin by ion exchanging and then bringing a compound containing a group constituting the cationic site of the ionic liquid into contact with the anion exchange resin to perform ion exchange.
