摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping force control device for controlling a damping force characteristic of a damper so as to minimize reduction in the vibration restraining effect of a sprung member, even when failure is caused in an active stabilizer. SOLUTION: In this damping force control device, when operation lock failure of locking operation of a rear wheel side stabilizer actuator 23R is caused, an R system and a W system are corrected to an R<SB>b</SB>system and a W<SB>b</SB>system by substituting rear wheel side stabilizer generation force in the R system and the W system used when calculating respective request damping forces, with rear wheel abnormal time generation force F<SB>C_r</SB>(S230). The respective wheel request damping forces are calculated by taking into consideration proper force actually generated by the active stabilizer by this correction. Reduction in the vibration restraining effect of the sprung member HA is restrained even in the operation lock failure by controlling a damping force characteristic of the respective dampers based on the respective wheel request damping forces calculated in this way.
