PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system for determining to which existing road connection should be made appropriately when an expressway and a general road exist vertically in parallel when returning from a new road to an existing road. SOLUTION: When an expressway and a general road exist vertically in parallel at a returning place, an average speed when traveling on a new road is compared with that when traveling on an existing road to determine to which existing road the new road has been connected. If ETC gate information is received when traveling on the new road, it is determined to which existing road connection has been made, based on the received ETC gate information.
