PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a face plate for embossing processing and a method of forming engraved mark for forming the engraved mark of a free pattern clearly with a simple operation and for preventing breakage of a sheet and deterioration of strength, upon embossing work. SOLUTION: In the face plate C which is attached to a working machine such as a die cutter while being opposed to a blanking die D, receives the cutting edge 11 of the blanking die D and a ruled line-pressing member 12 in accordance with approach of the blanking die D, applies blanking and ruling processing to the sheet S, receives the pressing plate 13 of the blanking die D and forms the engraved mark 2 by means of the embossing work onto the sheet S, a recessed part 15 which is recessed more than the upper receiving surface (m) for receiving the cutting edge 11 of the blanking die D and the ruled line-pressing member 12 is disposed correspondingly to the protrusion part 14 of the pressing plate 13, the sheet S is pushed into the recessed part 15 with the protrusion part 14 of the pressing plate 13 and the engraved mark 2 floating up from the surface (n) of the sheet S is formed. The engraved mark 2 which is engraved with high relief of a considerable height from the surface (n) of the sheet S by the recessed part 15 of the face plate C can be formed, and breakage and deterioration of strength of the sheet S can be prevented.
