PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pendulum type base isolation device which suitably prevents the relative displacement of a base isolation object. SOLUTION: The base isolation device 1 supports the base isolation object A1 movably in a horizontal direction relative to a support structure A2 by a rail 11 having a concave curved surface 11a and a wheel 13 rolling on the concave curved surface 11a. The base isolation device 1 has a rotational mass body 21 to which the rotation of the wheel 13 is transmitted, and a rotational friction mechanism provided in a transmission passage of a rotation between the wheel 13 and the rotation mass body 21. The rotational friction mechanism has the wheel 13 and a shaft 17 to which the rotation of the wheel 13 is transmitted via a frictional force with the wheel 13. The coefficient of the static friction between the wheel 13 and the shaft 17 is smaller than the coefficient of the static friction between the concave curved surface 11a and the wheel 13.
