<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device having improved lighting startability, and to provide a projector. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device includes an arc tube having a light-emitting part for emitting light and a sealing part extending from the light-emitting part, a reflecting mirror (a main reflecting mirror) 6 for reflecting the light emitted from the arc tube, an assisting light source 8 for emitting light to the arc tube to assist the lighting start of the arc tube, and a mounting member 9 for mounting the assisting light source 8 on the reflecting mirror 6. The reflecting mirror 6 has a neck part 61 through which the sealing part is inserted to be fixed thereto. The mounting member 9 is mounted at the end of the neck part 61. The mounting member 9 has a holding part 91 for holding the assisting light source 8, and shielding parts (first and second shielding parts) 92, 93 covering at least part of the end of the sealing part for shielding the light emitted from the end. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
