PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy resin composition excellent in heat resistance and low thermal expansion and especially in adhesiveness and to provide the curing promoter of an epoxy resin capable of manufacturing the epoxy resin composition. SOLUTION: A laminar clay mineral organized by an organic modifier represented by general formula (1) has high affinity for the epoxy resin, the organized laminar clay mineral can be uniformly and minutely dispersed in the epoxy resin by holding a curing promoting function that an organic phosphonium position has and an epoxy resin composite material excellent in heat resistance and low thermal expansion and especially in adhesiveness can be obtained. In formula, R denotes an alkyl group (C<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n+1</SB>), or a hydroxy alkyl group (C<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n</SB>OH), n denotes an integer of 1 to 22 and X denotes a halogen.
