<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiple core fiber or the like having a structure for facilitating favorable optical coupling between objects to be coupled when applied to a part of an optical waveguide in an optical communication system. <P>SOLUTION: The multiple core fiber 500 includes: a plurality of cores; a clad 120 which integrally covers the cores 110 while keeping a predetermined arrangement; and a positioning structure 150. In particular, each of the cores 110 extends along a predetermined axis AX and functions as an optical waveguide which is optically independent from each other. The clad 120 integrally covers the cores 110 and keeps the arrangement of the cores 110 in the cross section intersecting at right angle with the predetermined axis AX. The positioning structure 150 limits rotation of the core arrangement around the predetermined axis AX with respect to an object to be connected, regulated on the cross section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
