<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headlamp for vehicle in which reduction in damages to a pedestrian is aimed by alleviating an impact to the pedestrian upon collision of the vehicle with the pedestrian. <P>SOLUTION: The headlamp for vehicle has a lamp outer casing 4 composed of a lamp housing 2 and a cover 3 to close the front opening of the lamp housing, and a lamp unit 9 with a light source 11a arranged inside the lamp outer casing. The headlamp is provided with a projection lens 13 consisting of a lens portion 15 to project light emitted from the light source and a flange portion 16 which overhangs from the outer periphery of the lens portion, and a lens holder 14 on which the flange portion of the projection lens is installed and which holds the projection lens.
