PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing apparatus capable of appropriately displaying a display according to user's operation purposes to improve the user's operability. SOLUTION: A digital complex machine 110 determines if a user's purpose is a printing purpose or a saving purpose from request designated by a user, and acquires processing capability information and setting information of the digital complex machine 110 corresponding to the determined purpose. Then the machine 110 determines a format type of document data to be displayed on the basis of the obtained processing capability information and the setting information. Further, the machine 110 generates display information to be displayed on a document list screen from document list information of the document data corresponding to the request designated by the user and the determined format type of the document data.
