<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat panel display device that displays an initial screen at brightness corresponding to brightness of the peripheral light and to provide a control method of the flat panel display device. <P>SOLUTION: The flat panel display device, includes: a pixel unit 100 including a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of emission control lines and a plurality of data lines, and displaying an image corresponding to data signals transmitted to the plurality of data lines; a scan driver 200 transmitting scan signals to the scan lines and transmitting emission control signals to the emission control lines; a data driver 300 transmitting the data signals to the data lines; a timing controller 600 providing control signals and/or data to the scan driver 200 and the data driver 300; and a brightness control unit 500 generating sense signals corresponding to the brightness of peripheral light and controlling the brightness of the pixel unit 100 based on the sense signals, wherein the brightness control unit 500 senses the peripheral light of the external of the pixel unit 100 before an initial screen is displayed on the pixel unit 100 and controls the initial screen displayed on the pixel unit 100 at brightness corresponding to the brightness of the peripheral light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
