PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a temperature of a nozzle is not properly estimated because a temperature change in a recording head is not included if the temperature of the nozzle which cannot be directly measured is estimated from a detection temperature by one temperature sensor set either at the upstream side or at the downstream side of the recording head. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus estimates the temperature of the nozzle by considering the temperature change in the recording head by temperature sensors provided at an ink supply port and an ink eject port in the recording head. From the estimated temperature and a temperature difference of the ink between supply and ejection, temperature control by warming and cooling is performed by combining a fan and a heater by the warming and cooling action of a Peltier element to make the nozzle temperature fall in a preliminarily set drivable temperature range where the nozzle normally discharges the ink.
