PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor layer module constituted so that an active layer temperature is kept almost constant. SOLUTION: When a drive current is supplied to a semiconductor gain chip 11, light is emitted from a front end face of the semiconductor gain chip 11. The light is repeatedly reflected by a rear end face of the semiconductor gain chip 11 and an FBG 4a in an optical fiber 4 to cause laser oscillation. On a TEC 15, the semiconductor gain chip 11 and a thermistor 13 which measures a temperature are provided. When a current is fed to the semiconductor gain chip 11, the current is fed to a thin film resistance 39 on an upper surface of the thermistor 13 at the same time. The thermistor 11 is heated through a sub-mount 21 and also heated by the thin film resistance 39. A width of deviation in temperature between the semiconductor gain chip 11 and the thermistor 13 becomes small. By keeping the thermistor 13 at a predetermined temperature, the semiconductor gain chip 11 (its active layer) is held at the predetermined temperature. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
