PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare gas fluorescent lamp in which a phosphor is coated on the inner face of a glass tube with an aperture part formed at a part thereof, an external electrode provided at the outer surface of the glass tube, and a translucent insulating film coated on its outer circumference, and which has a structure in which a local deterioration of illuminance is prevented and illuminance in axial direction is made uniform by preventing existence of air bubbles between the translucent insulating film and the glass tube in the aperture portion. SOLUTION: An air-bubble removing hole is provided in the portion of the aperture part and/or its vicinity of the translucent insulating film coated on the outer surface of the glass tube.
