<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film including a polarizer, which is improved particularly in variation of polarization degrees at both ends in the width direction of a row web, and obtains excellent optical characteristics when used in a liquid crystal panel. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film includes a polarizer and a retardation film: the polarizer is a uniaxially oriented film in which the axial direction of the absorption axis varies along a direction orthogonal to the uniaxial orientation direction; and a retardation film has a distribution of axial directions of the slow phase axis. The films are laminated so as to align the direction orthogonal to the uniaxial orientation direction of the polarizer with the direction where the axial direction of the slow phase axis of the retardation film has the distribution. Angles θpL and θpR of the axial directions of absorption axes at both ends in the direction orthogonal to the uniaxial orientation direction of the polarizer, with respect to the axial direction of the absorption axis at the center, and angles θrL, θrR of the axial directions of the slow phase axes at both ends in the direction where the axial direction of the slow phase axis of the retardation film has the distribution, with respect to the axial direction of the slow phase axes at the center, satisfy 0°≤¾θpL-θrL¾<0.5° and 0°≤¾θpR-θrR¾<0.5°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
