The invention consists of a device specially designed to make it possible to rapidly locate an aircraft which, following an accident, has come down in an area where the search for remains is particularly difficult, such as the sea or mountainous regions. It comprises a container (1) with automatic closure means (7), divided internally into two chambers (2 and 3) into which metal sheets (4) and hollow spheres (5) are placed; an attached radio beacon (6), a memory circuit (14); and it is operated via an automatic control means. All these elements form an assembly by virtue of a protective, waterproof casing (8) that keeps them together. The device also has an anchor (10) via which it is attached to the outside of the aircraft, where it is kept, enabling automated release of the device in response to a signal that indicates that an accident is imminent.
