METHOD FOR COMPRESSING AND DECOMPRESSING TIME STAMP AND EQUIPMENT THEREOF

A method for compressing and decompressing a time stamp and equipment thereof are provided, applying in a scenario of compressing base compressed packets carrying an extended compressed packet of type 3 in robust header compression (ROHC), wherein the method for compressing the time stamp comprises: storing the high order bits of a time stamp to be transmitted in the time stamp field of the base compressed packet; storing bits of successive zeros beginning from the highest order bit of the remaining bits of the time stamp to be transmitted after removing said high order bits in the extended compressed packet in the form of number; and storing the remaining bits of the time stamp to be transmitted after removing said high order bits and said bits of successive zeros in the time stamp field of the extended compressed packet as low order bits. Thus the compression space can be used effectively and the compression efficiency can be improved.
