WHITE-BOX CRYPTOGRAPHIC SYSTEM WITH CONFIGURABLE KEY USING BLOCK SELECTION

A white-box cryptographic system (600) is presented for performing a key- dependent cryptographic operation, such as AES. The system comprises a plurality of basic blocks (640), such as look-up tables, and a basic block manager (650). The basic block manager is configured to iteratively select a selected one of the plurality of basic blocks in dependency on a block selection string (664). By sending a new block selection string to the system the key for which the system is configured can be updated.
