Producing carbon black, comprises: evaporating a carbon black feedstock by an oil-evaporator at a temperature >= to the evaporation temperature of the carbon black feedstock; introducing the resulting oil vapor with a carrier gas into a carbon black apparatus with at least one burner and at least one roller; optionally supplying air before the oil vapor-/the carrier gas mixture is introduced into the apparatus; introducing the gas mixture under the flame of the burner; and partially depositing the carbon black on the roller, where the distance between the burner and the roller is 60-300 mm.
