PURPOSE: A digital photographing apparatus, a method for controlling the same, and a computer-readable storage medium to executing the method are provided to enable a user to obtain more clear image by referring to the information on a subject for which a focus is not properly adjusted when setting up a photographing setup value. CONSTITUTION: Subject distance information indicating the distance to at least one subject is calculated(S204). The focus distance is obtained from an iris setup value so that the iris distance information is calculated(S206). For at least one subject region, the subject distance information is compared with the iris distance information(S208). It is judged whether or not the focus is adjusted proper to the subject region(S210). The focus information indicating whether or not the focus is proper is provided(S212).
