Disclosed is a method for producing a magnetic powder, which enables improvement of magnetic characteristics of a sintered magnet by uniformly covering the surfaces of hard magnetic powder particles with a metal such as a transition metal. The method for producing a magnetic powder comprises a step of aerosolizing a hard magnetic powder by means of an inert gas, a step of heating and vaporizing a metal, and a step of depositing the vaporized metal on the surfaces of aerosolized hard magnetic powder particles.
