The present invention discloses a method for feeding back channel status information, which includes: a terminal determines the number of periodic channel status information bits needed to be fed back and the target length after the periodic channel status information is coded; the terminal judges the number of the periodic channel status information bits needed to be fed back is not greater than a preset threshold, codes the periodic channel status information in a linear block code mode, and intercepts the coded information according to the determined target length after the periodic channel status information is coded; otherwise, the terminal codes the periodic channel status information in a tail-biting convolution code mode, and intercepts the coded information according to the determined target length after the periodic channel status information is coded; the terminal modulates the intercepted coded-information and transmits it on an antenna port. The present invention discloses correspondingly a system for feeding back channel status information. The present invention avoids the limitation on the load of channel status information, so that the application range is wider; the linear block code adopted by the present invention can acquire the maximum coding gain to optimize the performance.
