The solution is adapted to the technical field of television, which provides a method for viewing television channels and a TV set. The method includes: a) receiving the control instruction of viewing channels, inputting the frequency data of a browsing channel to a secondary tuner, receiving the television signal of the browsing channel through the secondary tuner, and receiving the television signal of the current watching channel simultaneously; b) processing the television signal of the browsing channel and the current watching channel, displaying the television program picture of the browsing channel on the secondary picture, and displaying the television program of the current watching channel on the main picture. By the provided solution, users not only can watch the program content of every browsing channel and obtain the corresponding information of the program when they are viewing the channels, but it has not influence on watching the program of current watching channel.
