The device (1) has hydraulic pumps connected in series to a drive shaft (4) of an electric motor (5). One of the hydraulic pumps is provided as a guidance pump (31), which cooperates with a guidance control unit (6). The control unit determines a reference value (ns) for rotational speed of the electric motor. Time-variable rotational speed for the electric motor is calculated in the control unit. Different pressure values and/or volumetric flow values for supply of hydraulic circuits are compared with the calculated rotational speeds and considered.
