Provided are method and system for acquiring downlink channel information. The method for acquiring downlink channel information includes: a terminal sends detecting pilot and downlink interference information to a base station; the base station acquires uplink channel state information according to the detecting pilot, then acquires the equivalent downlink channel state information, and acquires related downlink channel information based on the equivalent downlink channel state information and the downlink interference information. Method and system for acquiring uplink channel information are also provided. The method for acquiring uplink channel information includes: a base station sends uplink interference information and downlink pilot to a terminal; the terminal acquires downlink channel state information according to the downlink pilot, then acquires the equivalent uplink channel state information, and acquires related uplink channel information based on the equivalent uplink channel state information and the uplink interference information, and sends the acquired uplink channel quality information to the base station. The present invention acquires the channel information by utilizing channel reciprocity, thus reducing uplink over head.
