The invention relates to a method for preparing a solid compact product with a predetermined volume using a mix of at least one component, characterised in that said method includes the following steps: a) placing a predetermined amount of the mix in a confined space made up of a die and punches arranged on either side of the die, said confined space having an initial confinement volume; b) compacting the mix, said compaction step including at least one compaction phase which comprises: b1) a pressure-increase step during which the volume of the confined space is reduced by gradually and continuously bringing the punches closer together from the initial confinement volume to an intermediate confinement volume, the punches being brought closer to one another in accordance with a profile having an original slope corresponding to a relative speed of movement of the punches in relation to one another of no more than 80 mm/s and no less than 0.5 mm/s; and b2) a step of releasing the compression stress by separating the punches immediately after said pressure-increase step. The invention also relates to a press device for manufacturing a solid compact product with a predetermined volume using a mix of at least one component, including a means suitable for implementing said method.
