METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR REALIZING TERMINAL HANDOVER

A method and a system for realizing a terminal handover are provided and applied to a network with an architecture in which the identity identifier and the location are separate. In the network, an Access Identifier (AID) is used as the user identity identifier of the terminal, and a Routing Identifier (RID) is used as the location identifier of the terminal. The terminal intercommunicates with a correspondent terminal in a traditional network by an Inter-working Service Node (ISN). The method comprises: when the terminal communicates with the correspondent terminal in the traditional network, a source Access Node (ASN) is informed that the terminal needs to hand over and then requests, from a target ASN, the handover; the target ASN responds to the request of the source ASN, and the source ASN sends, to the target ASN, the information of the correspondent terminal of the terminal; after the handover between the source ASN and the target ASN is completed, the target ASN assigns, to the terminal, a RID directing to the ASN itself, and sends the updated mapping information of the AID- RID of the terminal to the ISN through which the target ASN communicates with the correspondent terminal in the traditional network. This technical solution can ensure an interruption caused by the handover does not occur in the on-going communication service between the terminal and the traditional network.
