Various embodiments pertain to managing electronic devices with different types of device location limited device management clients. According to one embodiment, first information describing first device capabilities 122 for a first type of device location limited device management client 126 associated with a first electronic device 120 is received. A device location agnostic device management client 124 is installed on the first electronic device 120 while communicating with the first electronic device 120 based on the first device capabilities 122.
