Disclosed is a method for producing ethanol, including drying blue-green algae collected from freshwater using supercritical fluid carbon dioxide, hydrolyzing the dried blue-green algae with acid, followed by neutralizing, and fermenting the blue-green algae with an ethanol-producing strain. Disclosed is also a method for producing ethanol, including drying blue-green algae collected from freshwater using supercritical fluid carbon dioxide, hydrolyzing the dried blue-green algae with a hydrolase, and fermenting the blue-green algae with an ethanol-producing strain. In accordance with the methods, ethanol can be economically mass-produced using freshwater blue-green algae, which are readily obtainable from rivers and/or lakes, instead of corn or sugar cane.
|
