<p>Disclosed is a liquid crystal compound which is stable with respect to heat, light and the like and in a nematic phase over a wide temperature range, while having a small viscosity, an adequate, relatively small optical anisotropy, a large elastic constant K33, and an adequate, relatively large dielectric anisotropy. The liquid crystal compound is a compound represented by formula (1-1). For example, R1 and R2 each represents an alkyl group having 1-10 carbon atoms, an alkenyl group having 2-10 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 1-9 carbon atoms; ring A1 and ring A2 each represents 1,4-phenylene, 2-fluoro-1,4-phenylene, 3-fluoro-1,4-phenylene or 3,5-difluoro-1,4-phenylene; and m and n each represents 0, 1, 2 or 3, with m + n being 3.</p> |
