The refrigerator and/or freezer has a door (10) with a front side at which a glass pane (20) is attached by a fastening unit (30). The fastening unit is arranged at a rear side of the glass pane. The door comprises an inner cladding (11), a heat insulation layer (12) and an outer cladding (13). The glass pane is arranged upstream to the outer cladding. The fastening unit comprises angular elements i.e. angular rails, which are fastened at upper and lower side surfaces of the door. A glass plate opens and closes the door. A handle element i.e. handrail, is integrated into the fastening unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for retrofitting a refrigerator and/or freezer.
