<p>An emergency braking system for abruptly braking a revolving shaft of a machine tool for protecting a user of the machine tool includes a brake drum which may be engaged with at least one brake shoe in order to brake the shaft. The brake drum and the at least one brake shoe are configured in such a way that the braking engagement between the brake drum and the brake shoe takes place under the influence of a centrifugal force or centrifugal acceleration resulting from the rotation of a shaft.</p> |
