[Class 51 (i).] A portable fireplace 1 for burning low grade fuel, refuse and the like is provided at the bottom with a rotary cylinder 7 having trunnions 8 mounted in bearings 9 and provided on a portion of its periphery with a grate 15 arranged above a blast chamber 14, while the remainder of the cylinder forms a receptacle 13 for ashes. The cylinder is grooved at 23 for the reception of rollers 24 and at one end has a circular groove 16 in which bears the resilient end 20 of the blast pipe 19. When the cylinder is in the position shown, blast passes from the pipe 19 to chamber 14 through an aperture 17. When ashes &c. accumulate in the fireplace 1, the cylinder is rotated by gearing 27, 28 to bring the ash receptacle 13 beneath the fireplace ; further rotation of the cylinder removes the ashes and dumps them into the pit 32. The fireplace 1 is supported on a frame 2 provided with rollers 5 running on a track 6 to enable it to be removed from the furnace. The bearers 9 are also provided with rollers 11 which move on a track 12.</p> |
