[Classes 132 (ii) and 132 (iii).] In games apparatus comprising a device for projecting a ball or other missile, the missile is yieldably retained upon a holder, by magnetic means in such a way that it is released and projected when the forward movement of the holder is suddenly arrested. A rectangular baize-covered board 1 with a semicircular recess 2 at one end has secured to it a frame 3 in which is pivoted a rod 5, the rod being adjustable vertically in the frame. The rod carries a horizontal pivot 8 for members 10 connected to a platform 11 to which is adjustably secured a magnet 12. The platform is formed with a step 15 against which the magnet 12 normally holds a steel ball 16. In use, the platform is swung back about the horizontal axis 8 by a cord 22 and is then released. When the edge of the platform strikes the board 1, the ball 16 is ejected and rolls along the board. The ball may be biased. A quoit ring may be used instead of a ball, the front edge of the platform 11 then being curved to project the ring upwards into the air. In a further modification, the missile comprises a steel plate having a point in one of its sides, the point being projected by the apparatus into a vertical target after the manner of a dart.
