The cooling device (30) has a cooling element (12) which has a cooling upper surface (14) facing a gas flow (16), where the cooling element is formed from an open-porous material. The cooling element has a partial area (32) in upstream flow direction of the gas flow, in which the flow rate of the cooling fluid is increased per unit area of the cooling upper surface compared to the residual area of the cooling element.
