390,892. Severing bias-strips. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., 32, Osnaburgh Street, London, WILLSHAW, H., SMITH, H., and DAVENPORT, F. A., Fort Dunlop, Birmingham. Dec. 29, 1931, No. 35870. [Class 31 (i).] A web of fabric for tyres is partly severed on the bias by known means and the separation is completed by the tearing-apparatus shown in the Figure. The web 23 is fed between rollers 7, 11, 12 and between roller 10 and conveyers 1. The conveyer is driven from an electromotor which drives the rollers 10, 7 by chain gearing. The roller 10 and conveyer 1 are driven at a higher speed than the roller 7 to cause the web to be severed by tearing at the weakened positions. Each end of the roller 10 is adjustable independently to allow of skewing the roller 10.
|
