<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently expand movable area while maintaining good abrasion resistance. <P>SOLUTION: An artificial hip joint 1 comprises a stem 2 inserted and fixed into a medullary cavity of a femur, a femoral head ball 4 being engaged in a neck 3 attached to one end of the stem 2 and replacing a joint of the femur, and a liner 6 held in an acetabulum of a haunch bone and provided with a hemisphere depression part 6a accepting rotatably the head ball 4 and a hinge piece 6b hinging the head ball 4. The depth of the depression part 6a is formed shallower than that of the radius of the depression part 6a. The liner 6 has a hemisphere rim face 6c and a ball center A of the rim face 6c is positioned closer to a hole bottom side of the depression part 6a than a ball center B of the depression part 6a.
