PURPOSE: An apparatus for determining the shift position of a transmission is provided to confirm the shift position of a shift lever by accurately determining a sensing signal of a sensor which senses the shift position of the shift lever. CONSTITUTION: A sensor signal abnormality determining unit(5) determines each sensor signal abnormality of a first direction sensor and a second direction sensor. The first direction sensor outputs a first lever non-sensing signal. The second direction sensor outputs a second lever non-sensing signal. A sensor signal correction processor(6,8) corrects the abnormal sensor signal. A correction signal abnormality determining unit(7,9) determines the combination abnormality of the signal.
