MEMORY DEVICE FOR A HIERARCHICAL MEMORY ARCHITECTURE

PURPOSE: A memory device for a hierarchical memory architecture is provided to simplify power loss recovery problems by using PCM for caching. CONSTITUTION: A hierarchical memory unit(100) includes a phase change memory, a plurality of interfaces, and input/output ports. The interfaces includes different memory formats. The input/output port has a daisy-chain hierarchical structure or a hierarchical tree and connects the hierarchical memory unit. A standard non- hierarchical memory unit is attached to the output port of the hierarchical memory unit.
