PURPOSE: A hair dye composition containing fermented herb extract and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent side effects by toxicity of dye and to minimize hair and scalp damage. CONSTITUTION: A hair dye composition contains 0.5-10 weight parts of dyeing agent, 5-40 weight parts of fermented herb extract and 5-50 weight parts of non-fermented herb extract. The dyeing agent is p-phenylene diamine, m-phenylene diamine, o-phenylene diamine, p-nitro-o-phenylene diamine, n-phenyl-p-phenylene diamine, or toluene sulfate-2.5-diamine. The fermented herb extract is obtained by fermenting a mixture of Ledebouriellae Radix, rehmanniae Radix Preparata, angelicae tenuissimae Radix, angelicae gigantis Radix, and glycyrrhizae radix. The strain used for fermentation is Saccharomyces cerevisiae KCTC 7915, Bacillus subtilis KCTC3239, Bacillus coagulans KCTC 1015 and Bifidobacterium bifidum.
